Wells Next to Sea Harbour Railway
1976 to 2021
The Wells Harbour railway was established in 1976 and opened in July of that year.
There was two stations or halts along the 1,200 yard 10+1⁄4 in (260 mm) gauge railway
Wells harbour and Pinewoods caravan park where the engine shed also stood.
The line ran on three diesel locomotives
Dennis-Howard-The Duke
All these diesel locomotives are now at the Lappa Valley Railway in Cornwall.
In January 1970 half a mile of the track was washed away by a storm but the line was rebuilt and reopened for the summer season.
April 2021 the railways future was in jeopardy and in September 2021 the line was closed
These pictures below of the closed line was taken on November the 14th 2021 when all the line had been ripped up apart from small parts on the level crossings
The landowners have said a replacement service will be put in place for the summer 2022 season but its yet to be made public what sort of service will replace this once run and still loved service.
