Sheringham to Norwich | Sheringham | Bittern line

The current station in Sheringham was established by British Rail on January 2, 1967, as a replacement for the original station built by the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway. The previous station, situated across the street, has now been converted into the terminus of the North Norfolk Railway heritage line. During the station's opening, the railway was scheduled to shut down, and the basic timber platform was meant to be temporary and last only for the final few months of the line's service. This change allowed for the closure of the level crossing located in the same area.

The new station seen below opened in May 2019 replacing the old timber platform.

Located just past the Level Crossing in Sheringham is the original station that was utilized during the M&GN era. Now, this station is utilized by the North Norfolk Heritage railway. In March 2010, the Original station was reconnected to the main line at Sheringham. The level crossing was also reopened for occasional use, with a maximum use of up to 12 times per year.
